Abstract :
(−)-3(R)-Amino-4(R),5(R)-dihydroxy-1-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic acid (the 3(R)-amino analogue of (−)-shikimic acid) has been synthesised from (−)-shikimic acid in seven steps.
