Synthesis of phosphinic acid transition state analogues for the reaction catalysed by kynureninase

The syntheses of phosphinic acid and methyl phosphinate analogues of kynurenine, designed as transition state mimics for the enzyme kynureninase are described, along with their inhibitory properties.
