Abstract :
A highly stereoselective synthesis of 2-amino-1-hydroxy-3-phenylpropylphosphonic acid was achieved by simple addition of diethyl phosphite to enantiomeric N-blocked phenylalaninals. These compouds exhibit significant herbicidal activity.
