Abstract :
(+)-8ʹ-Acetylenic ABA has been synthesized through the ligand assisted nucleophilic addition of a Grignard reagent to quinol 6 and is shown to be the first known irreversible inhibitor of ABA 8ʹ-hydroxylase. A series of ABA analogues has been prepared using this procedure.
