Abstract :
Physical properties of agricultural products will be useful for design of the equipments for planting, harvesting, conveying and processing operations. In this study, some physical properties of pre-germinated paddy of three varieties namely Hashemi, Binam and Hasani were determined. The results revealed that the average value of length for pre-geminated paddy of Hashemi variety (9.87 mm) was to be more than Binam (9.18 mm) and Hasani (8.95 mm); whereas the mean values of width and thickness for Hasani (5.56, 2.46 mm) was higher than those of Hashemi (2.41, 2.01) and Binam (2.71, 2.13 mm). The surface area for Hashemi, Binam and Hasani varieties was obtained in the range of 34.22-44.67, 34.77-44.74 and 39.6-65.12 mm2, respectively. The value of bulk density for Hasani variety (527.70-544.02 kgm-3) was significantly (P < o.o1) higher than those of Hashemi (432.2-460.38 kgm-3) and Binam (528.96-537.12 kgm-3). The true density of pre-germinated paddy of Hashemi, Binam and Hasani varieties were obtained 1243, 1326 and 1346 kgm-3, respectively. The porosity of Hashemi (63.9 %) was more than Binam (59.8 %) and Hasani (60.9 %). The angle of repose for Hasani was obtained 48.31° and those of Binam and Hashemi were measured 45.7° and 42.4°, respectively. The least value of static coefficient of friction for all the varieties were observed on glass; while the most value for Binam and Hasani was on the plywood and for Hashemi was on the plastic.
