Developing A Model for Supply Chain Management Using Information Technology

Supply chain management is the process of planning, implementation and control of supply chain operations in an optimized manner. Supply chain management is a set of approaches utilized to efficiently integrate suppliers, manufacturers, warehouses, and stores, so that merchandise is produced and distributed at the right quantities, to the right locations, and at the right time, in order to minimize system-wide costs while satisfying service level requirements. Today, Supply Chain Management is as one of the infrastructure of E-commerce. Information Technology (IT) and its use in organizations and across the supply chain has become a determinant of competitive advantage for many corporations. This paper focuses the usage of IT tools for Supply Chain Management (SCM) after a review on the issues of supply chain management.
