Challenges and Approaches of Management Information Systems (MIS) in Iran

In this paper, we examine the foundations of decision theory and various techniques used in strategic decision making. The techniques will be presented in the context of management information systems and its data that facilitates their application. Therefore, after presenting the introduction and the aim of this paper, will define information systems and strategic management information systems followed by decision-making processes and its principles in relation with management information systems. In the most important section of this paper we will review the enterprise information systems such as ES, DSS, TPS and MIS and their roles in strategic decision-making. At the end, it was concluded that, all discussed techniques receive and apply their needed information from management information systems and management information systems merge analyze techniques. These and techniques extract basic concepts from basic information and transform them to a decision form. These techniques, regarding these concepts, provide theoretical framework for the development of management information systems.
