Studying the General Hydrologic Feature of Marg River Basin with an Emphasis on the Basin Geometric Parameters

ABSTRACT: Basin is defined as a part of ground to a point (concentration point) of which the runoff from precipitation is naturally directed by gravity. Physical characteristics of the basin including area, form, length of waterway and the like play a significant role in the amount and intensity of the runoff, underground water resources, and the type of flood and other dependent cases. Here, general hydrologic feature of Marg basin is studied with a special emphasis on geometric parameters. To recognize the basin geometric characteristics, first topographic plots of the zone (1/50000 scale) was provided and in the end physical properties of the basin was measured and calculated. Geometric parameters in this study are environment, area, form, height distribution of the surfaces, height, average slope, river length and its longitudinal profile, river slope, ranking, drainage density, flow direction, flow aggregation. And the results were presented in form of diagrams and plots.
