Abstract :
A peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction technique based on A-law companding is proposed for a multicarrier modulation (MCM) system. Multicarrier modulation is also known as orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or digital multitone. The symbol error rate (SER) and spectral property of the companded MCM system are investigated. The SER and spectral performance of the proposed system are also compared with the uncompanded MCM system.
