Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Undeniable effect of moisture on vegetation restoration in the arid and semi-arid regions and the effective role of small mechanical structures in collection of rain water and water supply led to the design and implementation of the mechanical structures as ʹcrescent pondʹ in Sistan and Baluchestan province (Iran). Crescent pond is the soil semi-circle structure with diameter of 3 m and depth of 35 cm. To find out the suitable methods to inhibit of soil degradation, it is needed to study physico-chemical characteristics of water accumulation mechanisms. In this research, the impacts of crescent pond structure on soil property studied in Sistan and Baluchestan province (Saravan rangelands). For this order two treatments of 1) control area and 2) crescent ponds area were established in the study area. 30 plots of 4m2 were selected in each treatment by Using random-systematic sampling. In each plot 5 soil sample were taken from the center and the sides of the plot to a depth of root. Soil characteristics such as Ec, PH, TNV, K, O.C, Clay, Sand, Silt, Ca, Mg2+, Na+ and SAR were measured. Totally 60 soil sample were analyzed. Non-parametric tests were used to analyze the abnormally distribution of data. The results showed there are significant differences in some chemical soil properties between two areas. Some parameters such as EC, soluble Mg2+, Na+ and SAR showed significant difference between crescent pond structure and control area.
