Abstract
We are interested in a fairly wide range of high-power ion beams (HPIB, with intensities from I GW/cm to 10 TW/cm). In modeling the action of ion beams of moderate intensity (I < 10 GW/cm) on metal targets, elastoplastic properties are taken into account, and in describing the action of ion beams with intensities I > 10 GW/cm heat transfer, including radiation processes, is considered. Computer simulations based on a system of hydrodynamic equations are supplemented with wide-range equations of state, corresponding correlations for the calculation of the beam energy loss in the matter, parameters of energy transfer (coefficients of electronic, ionic, and radiative thermal conductivity, coefficients of optical radiation absorption), kinetics of generation and development of microcracks in solids when pulse loads are large. A possibility of simulating hypervelocity impact with the help of HPIB has been shown and the necessary conditions have been determined.
