Abstract :
A major concern for the nursing profession and nurse executives is the need to increase diversity in the registered nurse workforce to better mirror the U.S. population. Although the size of the RN workforce continues to be inadequate to meet societal needs, there are also particular issues related to the composition of the nursing workforce. A diverse workforce is important both to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) to diverse clients and help reduce health disparities.1
