A lesson in strategic leadership for service

The role of nurse leaders in moving organizations toward community service is exemplified in the development of the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA). The NCEMNA is now a force in the promotion and development of ethnic minority nurse research scientists to develop evidenced-based strategies to reduce health disparities. Their leadersʹ world view, commitment to service, understanding, belief in the collective power, spirit of adventure, and acceptance of challenges are all forces that propelled them to make the grand effort.
