Similarity classes of affine maps

We give an explicit description of the similarity classes of affine maps from a finite dimensional vector space to itself. We show that two affine maps which are similar over an extension field are also similar over the ground field. An explicit description is given for the conjugacy classes of the split extension of the symmetric group by the standard permutation module.
