Abstract :
Fourteen volume equations were fitted by the method of least squares to volume data of teak (Tectona grandis) planted at the Segaliud Lokan Forest Plantation Research Station. Furnivalʹs index was used as the criterion for selecting the best fit regression. The most suitable volume equation was found to be:
V = 0.059 + 0.039 D2H + 0.113 (D2H)2
where V is the underbark volume (m3), D is the diameter at breast height (cm) and H is the total height (m).
This paper presents the volume and form factor tables derived from the above best fit equation.
