Abstract
SmxBiY2–xFe5O12 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6,
0.8) nanocrystals were fabricated by sol–gel method.
Samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction
(XRD), thermal gravity analysis (TGA) and
differential thermal analysis (DTA), transmission electron
microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer(
VSM). The samples were calcined at 850 C and
1000 C and the average size of the particles were
determined by Scherrer’s formula . In this paper, we
discussed the effect of Sm3+ substitution for Y3+ on
magnetic properties of BiY2Fe5O12. The magnetic
properties of SmxBiY2–x Fe5O12 are decreased with
increasing content of Sm ion.
