Abstract :
The kinetics of hydration and the structuralization of hydrate films on the surface of model mineral soil complexes—anhydrous, differing in nature and sorbent solubility, and capable of chemical hydration (such as salt minerals, oxides, crystal hydrates, aluminates, and silicates)—have been studied in a direct experiment using the water vapor sorption method in combination with simultaneous conductimetric measurements. The study of hydration kinetics in a maximum concentrated “anhydrous sorbent–water vapor” system under different conditions (rapid, slow, and cyclic operating modes) showed that (i) neoformations create shielding layers on the surface that control further hydration and (ii) a structure with determinate chemical and size composiAtions forms in these layers. The variation in degree of dispersion during hydration does not often correlate with the amount of hydrate formed; this relationship is determined by the nature of the mineral constituent.
