Spectral analysis for convolution operators on locally compact groups

We consider operators Hμ of convolution with measures μ on locally compact groups. We characterize the spectrum of Hμ by constructing auxiliary operators whose kernel contain the pure point and singular subspaces of Hμ, respectively.
