Abstract :
A novel 2D network polyoxometalate-based complex, {[Ba2(DMF)5(H2O)5] SiW12O40·DMF·H2O}n (DMF ¼ N, N-dimethyl formamide), has been synthesized and characterized with aid of element analysis, thermal analysis, and IR, UV spectra studies. The result of the X-ray crystallography analysis exhibits that the barium in the title composite has two kinds of coordination environments, i.e. the eight- and ninecoordination modes to show the novel 2D network pore-like structure. Not only the net is connected throughW–Ot–Ba links and Ba–O–Ba links, but also three DMF molecules act as bridging to connect the adjacent Ba(II) ions. q 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
