Abstract :
A novel samarium coordination polymer, {[Sm(PIC)3(H2O)2]2}n (HPIC ¼ pyridine-4-carboxylic acid) has been synthesized. X-ray
analysis reveals that it forms chain-like structure through bridged oxygen atoms of carboxylate groups. The title coordination polymer
crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21=c; with lattice parameters: a ¼ 9.4795(15) A ° , b ¼ 18.986(3) A ° ,c ¼ 10.7621(17) A ° ,
b ¼ 92:300ð2Þ8; V ¼ 1935.4(5) A ° 3, Dc ¼ 1:897 Mg/m3, Z ¼ 2; F(000) ¼ 1084, GOF ¼ 0.893, R1 ¼ 0.0244. The photophysical property has
been studied with ultraviolet absorption spectrum, excitation and emission spectrum.
