Synthesis, characterization and crystal structure of a novel europium(III) supramolecular compound: {½EuðCH3OHÞ6ðH2OÞ2 ½PMo12O40 }· ðC14H20O5Þ2·ðCH3OHÞ2·ðCH3CNÞ2

A novel supramolecular compound of europium(III), {½EuðCH3OHÞ6ðH2OÞ2 ½PMo12O40 }·ðC14H20O5Þ2·ðCH3OHÞ2·ðCH3CNÞ2 (1) (where C14H20O5 is benzo-15-crown-5), was synthesised and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, FT-IR, FT-Raman, 1H and 13C NMR, 31P MAS NMR and elemental analysis. Compound 1 crystallizes in the triclinic P 1 space group, with a ¼ 13.821(3), b ¼ 15.417(3), c ¼ 20.786(4) A ° , a ¼ 96.10(3), b ¼ 99.79(3) and g ¼ 91.17(3)8, V ¼ 4336.6(15) A ° 3, Z ¼2 and R1ðwR2Þ ¼ 0:0894ð0:2346Þ: q 2003 Elsevier B.V.
