Abstract :
A novel metal-organic coordination polymer, [Ni2(dipic)2(4,40-bpy)4(H2O)]·4H2O (H2dipic ¼ pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Blue crystals crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group P21=c; a ¼ 10:582ð2Þ A ° , b ¼ 20:246ð4Þ A ° , c ¼ 7:2501ð15Þ A ° , b ¼ 105:73ð3Þ8, V ¼ 1495:0ð5Þ A ° 3, Z ¼ 2 and R ¼ 0:0377: The structure of the compound exhibits a novel three-dimensional supramolecular network, formed by hydrogen-bonding and p–p stacking interactions. Interestingly, the three-dimensional network consists of one-dimensional trapezoid channels, which accommodate lattice water molecules. q 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
