Abstract :
Hydrothermal reaction of 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3btc), 2,20-bipyridine (bipy) and Zn(CH3CO2)2·2H2O gave rise to a threedimensional
polymer [Zn3.5(m3-OH)(btc)2(bipy)2·H2O]n (1). X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that 1 consists of pentanuclear metal clusters
and single metal centers bridged by btc32. The pentanuclear zinc(II) clusters are connected by btc32 to give rise to a two-dimensional double
layer motif. The neighbor double layers are further joined by single metal centers to create a three-dimensional porous framework.
