Abstract
The paper highlights key aspects of the FRBR and
FRANAR models that will need to be re-examined as part of a more intensive
analysis of subject access, and suggests ways of approaching the
refinement and extension of the models. Questions are raised about the
current scope of coverage represented by the entities defined in the models,
the need to define additional entity attributes, and the representation
of both the semantic and syntactic relationships reflected in thesauri,
subject heading lists, classification schemes, and indexing strings. [Article
