RDF Database for PhysNet and Similar Portals

PhysNet (www.physnet.net) is a portal for Physics run since 1995 and continuously being developed; it today uses an OWLLite ontology and mySQL database for storing triples with the facts, such as department information, postal addresses, GPS coordinates, URLs of publication repositories, etc. The article focuses on the structure and the development of the underlying ontology; it also gives a de-tailed overview of an online web-based editorial tool, to maintain the facts database
