Abstract :
The aim of the paper was to observe the activity of alkaline and acidic phosphatase and non-specific esterase in the epithelial
and glandular uterine cells of postpartum goats. Fifteen Slovak short-haired does were used in the experiment. The animals
were slaughtered on days 3, 7, 21, 36 and 40 postpartum. The density of alkaline phosphatase in the cylindrical cells of
the glandular epithelium of the uterus tended to increase; with a significant (P < 0.05) increase being recorded on day 7.
The increase in density of alkaline phosphatase in the epithelial and glandular uterine cells continued until the end of the
period observed with a significant (P < 0.01) difference on days 36 and 40 postpartum. Alkaline phosphatase in the oviduct
infundibulum increased slightly on day 7 (P < 0.05) postpartum and its density increased significantly (P < 0.01) by day
21. The highest significant (P < 0.01) density was observed on day 40. Acidic phosphatase in glandular uterine cells tended
to increase (P < 0.01) on days 21, 36 and 40. Acidic phosphatase density in infundibular part of the oviduct increased
significantly on day 7 (P < 0.05) and on days 21, 36 and 40 (P < 0.01) postpartum. The density of non-specific esterase in
glandular uterine cells significantly (P < 0.01) increased from day 7 to day 40 of the period observed. The activity of the
observed enzymes increased simultaneously with the intensity of physiological regressive and regeneration processes of the
uterus and oviduct from day 3 postpartum to the end of the postpartum period.
