  • Abstract
To study the effects of SO2 released from three different level of SO2 generating pads and two type of polyethylene bags (perforated and imperforated) on fruit quality, shelf life, decay control and sulfite residue of grape cv. Bidaneh Sefid during cold storage periods, a factorial experiment based on randomized complete design (CRD) in three replications was conducted in 2007-2008. All fruits were stored for 135 days in Balo cold storage at ±1c and 85-90 %RH and every 45 days interval some traits such as: weight loss (%), fungal rot (%), rachis desiccation, berry shriveling, pH, TSS, TA, taste and sulfite residue were measured. Results showed that SO2 generating pads treatments significantly decreased weight losses, rachis and berry shriveling, fungal rots but off flavors grapes were increased. The most bunch weight losses was obtained in control and the lost weight losses was recorded in one and two sulfur pad treatments, respectively. Imperforated bags treatments significantly decreased weigh losses and rachis desiccation. Among sulfur treatments, the lowest sulfur taste and sulfite residue of berries was recorded in one pad with perforated bags.
