Effective Factors on the Satisfaction with Life among Iranian People (A case Study of Ilam City)

he aim of this study is to investigate the effective factors on the satisfaction with life among people residing in 12 districts of Ilam city in 2012-2013. The sample was selected employing cluster sampling method. To gather the data a validated questionnaire was distributed among 383 male and female participants. To analyze the data regression analysis, correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and path analysis were employed. The results indicated that the rate of life satisfaction was 60.1% in Ilam city. The results of correlation coefficient showed that there was a significant relationship between social anomy, social alienation perception, and relative deprivation perception, emotional aspect of piousness, optimism, self satisfaction, sexual satisfaction and income rate with life satisfaction. But there was no significant relationship between literacy (education level) and satisfaction with life. Results obtained from multivariate regression analysis showed that five variables of optimism, relative deprivation perception, social alienation perception, self-satisfaction, emotional aspect of piousness and sexual satisfaction determined 44% of variance of dependent variable (satisfaction with life).
