Abstract
Bamboo- the green gold has been an indispensable resource of Idu community of Arunachal
Pradesh from the time immemorial. Asian saying which states; "A man is born in a bamboo
cradle and goes away in a bamboo coffin. Everything in between is possible with bamboo!"
exactly deemed fit into the daily lives of Idu community of Arunachal Pradesh. Among this tribe,
bamboo is extensively used in plethora of construction activities and making spectacular
handicrafts. Moreover, it is used as a medicine, ornaments, fabric, food and all time solutions in
making any social activities or rituals successful to the bone. Recently, Idu community has also
started commercializing bamboo and its products.
The present paper makes an honest attempt to study incredibility of bamboo as a natural resource
among Idu community of Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, it also offers suggestions to make it
sustainable and eco-friendly.
