Let Ω be a non-empty open subset of Rd, where d⩾2. A modern theorem on harmonic approximation is used to show that there exists a harmonic function h on Ω behaving wildly near every boundary point of Ω. The function h is analogous to the holomorphic monster functions of W. Luh.
