Statistical analysis and modeling of coral reef habitats Original Research Article

The present study is concerned with the statistical analysis and modeling of the health behavior of coral reef habitats due to changes in environmental conditions. The analytical parameter estimates have been developed for the subject probability distribution. Information collected of stony coral cover from the Florida Keys over the past several years have been fitted to the three-parameter lognormal probability distribution and consequently we can statistically characterize the behavior of the proportion of stony coral cover. Thus, it is shown that true mean estimates from such data had been under reported in the past. Furthermore, a suitable confidence interval of the true mean is presented for the three-parameter lognormal probability distribution.
