Abstract
Classical trajectory rigid-rotor calculations have been employed to calculate the viscomagnetic and thermomagnetic effects, broadening of the Depolarized Rayleigh line and NMR relaxation using the anisotropic ab initio potential energy hypersurface of van der Pol et al. for temperatures between 77 K and 1500 K. Comparison with experiment shows that the calculated relaxation cross-sections generally overestimate the values inferred from experiment by 20–30%, suggesting that this potential surface is too anisotropic in the well region. The small coupling cross-sections are generally in satisfactory agreement with the measurements.
