Abstract
We propose an off-lattice resistor network as a conceptual framework for electrical transport in two-dimensional systems of interacting particles. The particles are considered as charge carriers and the molecular dynamics technique is applied to simulate the time evolution of the resulting network topology. The conductance of the off-lattice network is numerically calculated at each time step and the resulting time series is analyzed for the presence of long-range correlations. Our simulations with Lennard–Jones and soft-core types of interaction potentials indicate that the conductance of the dynamical system displays power-law correlations in time with an exponent that is significantly dependent on the temperature
