Abstract
The specific heat and temperature dependence of magnetizations in transverse Ising thin films are investigated by the use of the standard mean-field theory and the effective-field theory with correlations. The exchange interaction and transverse field at the surfaces take values different from those in the bulk. Many characteristic features are obtained in the magnetic properties, depending on the thickness L of a film, the ratios of those properties between the surface and the bulk and the value of transverse field in the bulk. It is clarified that the various characteristic features in specific heat mainly come from those in Ising thin films with zero transverse field and the specific heat in Ising thin films with zero transverse field may dramatically change with the variation of L and the value of exchange interaction at the surfaces
