Heavy quark pair multiplicity in e+e− events Original Research Article

We calculate the multiplicity of heavy quark pairs in e+e− annihilation events, which arises from perturbative gluon splitting. Our result is exact to leading order in as, and resums large leading and next-to-leading logarithmic terms to all orders. We compare our results with Monte Carlo models, and find reasonable agreement with those based on the parton shower approach.
