Revising Agricultural Development by Rethinking Rural Development Strategy in Iran

Agriculture is grounded in rural areas, so that agricultural and rural sectors are interlinked to each other, in Iran. Basically, Iranian policy makers cannot reach to agricultural development without rethinking toward rural development strategy. Rural development is considered as a base of all development attempts. As a summary there is a crisis that reflects lack of confidence and trust in all rural development projects, while they were in a center of attention. Rural development policy making is also lacking a certain definition to gain manageable solutions. Therefore, revising rural development process seems necessary. The matter of fact is, which of rural development strategies a suitable model for Iran is. In this paper, with analytical - descriptive method has been tried to clarify a perfect rural development model for Iran condition. Investigation around key processes in rural development, leads to a mixture of Integrated Rural Development Paradigm and Rural Non-farm Economy paradigm. So, based on conclusions, this mixture approach is accessible in sustainable rural livelihood framework.
