Abstract
Aerodynamic characteristics of rectangular cylinders at depth-breadth ratios of 1 and 2 are investigated in detail by numerical simulation of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations using a third-order upwind finite element scheme. In the numerical computation, a uniform flow is given at the inlet boundary in a computational region and the rectangular cylinders are inclined toward the approaching flow in the range of angles of attack from 0 ° up to 45 °. The present solutions for aerodynamic forces and moment by forces of the inclined rectangular cylinders are compared with other numerical results and experimental results.
