Computational acoustics: noise reduction via diffraction by barriers with different geometries Original Research Article

A study of the diffraction of a spherical acoustic wave by a thin barrier is presented. The numerical simulation is based on the 3-D boundary element method. In order to be able to consider differently shaped barriers, the direct B.E.M. formulation, suitably adapted, was preferred to the classical approach in which the barrier has zero-thickness.
