Abstract
A conservative fractional step method to solve the non-isentropic Euler set of equations on unstructured meshes is presented herein. The present two-step method, which is based on approximate Riemann solvers, is compared with Roeʹs scheme. The actual numerical rate of convergence is examined. The C.F.L.-like conditions which must be fulfilled to obtain discrete positive values of density and pressure variables are then discussed. It is also shown that the extension to the multi-component case enables to fulfil the maximum principle for the mass fraction.
