A review of a posteriori error estimation techniques for elasticity problems Review Article

Within the framework of linearized elasticity we give an overview of the most popular a posteriori error estimators. We discuss their common features, the main differences and the underlying principles. This will allow us to judge the quality of the different approaches and their suitability for nonlinear problems. We also briefly describe a general framework which allows the construction of a posteriori error estimators for nonlinear elasticity.
