Abstract :
Severalstudieshaveshownthattheconsiderationofarigidbody-rockingmodeinacabinetisnecessarytoevaluateaccurateincabinetspectra.Observationsfromfiniteelementanalysesareusedtostudycabinetrockingbehaviorandtoshowthataccuraterepresentationoftheboundaryconditionsatthecabinetbaseisessentialintheevaluationofcorrectrockingmode.Simpleformulationsforevaluatingtherockingstiffnessaredevelopedbyconductingdetailedanalyticalstudiesforthreedifferenttypesofcabinetmountingarrangements.AvailabilityoftheseformulationsenablesincorporationofacabinetrockingmodeintheRitzvectorapproach[Nucl.Eng.Des.190(1990)225]forevaluatingthecabinetdynamicpropertiesinsignificantmodeandforgeneratingtheincabinetresponsespectra.
