Abstract
Thepowercontrolsystemisakeycontrolsystemforanuclearreactor,whichdirectlyconcernsthesafeoperationofanuclearreactor.Muchattentionispaidtothepowercontrolsystemperformanceofnuclearreactorinengineering.Thedesignersputahighvalueupondesignofanoptimalpowercontrolsystem.Inthispaper,adesignmethodisappliedtothedesignofpowercontrolsystem.Accordingtotheoptimalcontroltheory,anobjectivefunction,quadraticperformanceindexwithweightfactorsisproposed.Then,theobjectivefunctionistransformedintofrequencydomainformbyuseofPaservalʹstheorem.Infrequencydomain,anoptimaltransferfunctioncanbeobtainedatthelowestvalueofobjectivefunction.Thesystemwithoptimaltransferfunctionhasanoptimalperformance.Thetransferfunctionofthepowercontrolsystemisderivedfromatypicalresearchnuclearreactor.Usingthestatefeedbacktheory,thetransferfunctionissynthesizedtotheoptimaltransferfunction.Thesimulativeresultswiththeoptimalcontrollerandwithaconventionalcontrollershowthattheperformanceoftheoptimalpowercontrolsystemislargelyimprovedondynamiccharacters.Themethodappliedherenotonlycanbeusedforresearchnuclearreactorbutalsocanbeeasilyextendedtopressurizedwaterreactorpowerplantandotherfields.
