Abstract :
ThemainobjectiveoftheEuropeanValidationoftheIntegralCodeASTEC(EVITA)projectistodistributethesevereaccidentintegralcodeAccidentSourceTermEvaluationCode(ASTEC)toEuropeanpartnersinordertoapplythevalidationstrategyissuedfromtheVASAproject(4thECFWP).Partnersevaluatethecodecapabilitythroughvalidationonreferenceexperimentsandplantapplicationsaccountingforsevereaccidentmanagement(SAM)measures,andcompareresultswithreferencecodes. ThebasisversionV0ofASTEC—commonlydevelopedandbasicallyvalidatedbyGRSandIRSN—wasmadeavailableinlate2000fortheEVITApartnersontheirindividualplatforms.Users’trainingwasperformedbyIRSNandGRS.Thecodeportabilityondifferentcomputerswascheckedtobecorrect.A“hotline”assistancewasinstalledcontinuouslyavailableforEVITAcodeusers.TheactualversionV1hasbeenreleasedtotheEVITApartnersendofJune2002.Itallowstosimulatethefront-endphasebytwonewmodules: • forreactorcoolantsystemtwo-phasesimplifiedthermalhydraulics(five-equationapproach)duringbothfront-endand
