Abstract :
TheEuropeanCommission-fundedshared-costactionprojectPHEBEN2bringstogether13partnerorganisationstounderstandthesourcetermaspectsoftheintegralPhebusFPexperiments,tovalidateintegralLWRsevereaccidentcodesagainstthetestdata,todevelopandapplycriteriaregardingthestrengthsandweaknessesofthecodesforplantapplications,andtoproposeguidelinesfortheiroptimumuseforthispurpose.Atthehalf-waypointoftheproject,contributionstothefinalinterpretationreportofthefirstPhebustestFPT0havebeencompletedandworkontheinterpretationofthefollowingtestisproceeding.AdetailedinvestigationbyCFDandparticletrackingappearstohaveidentifiedthecauseofthesystematicunderpredictionofdepositioninthesteamgeneratortubeofthePhebuscircuit.Containmentcalculationsusinglumped-parametercodeshavebeensupplementedbyextensiveCFDanalyses,revealingcomplexcirculationpatternswithintherelativelysimplecontainmentgeometryofPhebus.IodinechemistrystudieshavebeenmadeofbothFPT0andFPT1.Concerningcriteriaandcodeassessmentforplantapplications,ashortlistofsafety-importantphenomenaexploredinPhebushasbeenprepared,andpartnershavedraftedareportanalysingforeachphenomenonitssafetyimportance,theexperimentaldataavailable,themodellingapproachadoptedinPSAcodes,andtheexpecteduncertainties.
