Abstract :
Thispaperdiscussestheresultsofsteamexplosionexperimentsusingreactormaterialcarriedoutunder“TestforRealcOriumInteractionwithwater(TROI)”program.About4–9kgofcoriummeltjetisdeliveredintoasub-cooledwaterpoolatatmosphericpressure.Spontaneoussteamexplosionsareobservedinfourtestsamongsixtests.Thedynamicpressure,dynamicload,andmorphologyofdebrisclearlyindicatethecaseswithsteamexplosion.Theinitialconditionsandresultsoftheexperimentsarediscussed.
