    Thispaperdealswithsteady-stateresponseofapipingsystemwithnonlinearsupportwhicharemotion-limitingconstraint.Consideringtheenergylossinacollision,ananalyticalmethodofapproximatesolutionforthecontinuoussystemwithasymmetricalandsymmetricalhysteresisloopcharacteristicsinwhichthebeamendcollideswiththenonlinearsupportonceandtwiceinoneperiodofitsvibrationispresented.Somenumericalresultsoftheapproximatesolutionareshown.
