Abstract :
Reliablefiniteelement(FE)modellinginstructuraldynamicsisveryimportantforstudiesrelatedtothesafetyofstructuralcomponentsusedinthenuclearpowerindustry.FEmodelupdatingisatooltoproducethesereliablemodels.ThemethodusesaninitialFEmodelandexperimentalmodaldataofthestructuralcomponentstomodifyphysicalparametersoftheinitialFEmodel,andanumberofapproacheshavebeendevelopedtoperformthistask.Thispaperpresentsanoverviewofmodelupdatinganditsuseinfaultdiagnosis,usingtypicalexamples.Thepaperconcentratesontheusefulnessoftheupdatingmethod,ratherthandescribingthedifferentupdatingmethodsindetail.
