Abstract :
Thepresentstudypresentsamethodologyfordetailedreliabilityanalysisofnuclearcontainmentwithoutmetalliclinersagainstaircraftcrash.Forthispurpose,anonlinearlimitstatefunctionhasbeenderivedusingviolationoftolerablecrackwidthasfailurecriterion.Thiscriterionhasbeenconsideredasfailurecriterionbecauseradioactiveradiationsmaycomeoutifsizeofcrackbecomesmorethanthetolerablecrackwidth.ThederivedlimitstateusestheresponseofcontainmentthathasbeenobtainedfromadetaileddynamicanalysisofnuclearcontainmentunderanimpactofalargesizeBoeingjetaircraft.Usingthisresponseinconjunctionwithlimitstatefunction,thereliabilitiesandprobabilitiesoffailuresareobtainedatanumberofvulnerablelocationsemployinganefficientfirst-orderreliabilitymethod(FORM).Thesevaluesofreliabilityandprobabilityoffailureatvariousvulnerablelocationsarethenusedfortheestimationofconditionalandannualreliabilitiesofnuclearcontainmentasafunctionofitslocationfromtheairport.Tostudytheinfluenceofthevariousrandomvariablesoncontainmentreliabilitythesensitivityanalysishasbeenperformed.Someparametricstudieshavealsobeenincludedtoobtaintheresultsoffieldandacademicinterest.
