Abstract :
Theseismicresponseestimationbytheresponsespectrummethodusingonlytheexperimentalmodaldataarepresentedhere.Themodalparticipationfactors(MPFs)usedfortheresponseestimationarecalculatedusingtheexperimentalmodeshapesonly.ThisresponseiscomparedwiththeresponseestimatedusingtheconventionalMPFsbuttheexperimentallyextractedmodeshapesareusedalongwiththemassmatrixestimatedcorrespondingtothemeasureddegreeoffreedoms(dofs)usingphysicaldimensionsofthestructure.Thepresentedstudyeliminatestheuncertaintyassociatedwithanalyticalmodellingforevaluatingmassmatrix.
