Abstract :
Twoiterativemethodsofdevelopingtimehistoriescompatiblewithmulti-dampingspectraarepresented.Thecommonmethodofforcingagreementamongdesignandcalculatedspectralvaluesatseveralfrequenciesandmultipledampingvaluesmaygivepoor,evenmeaninglessresults.Thetwosimpleiterativetechniquespresentedhereuseaccelerationimpulsefunctionsfor“correcting”thetimehistories.Inthefirstmethodthecorrectioniscalculatedseparatelyforeachfrequencyanddampingvalueandthemaximumcorrespondingcoefficientisusedtocorrectthetimehistoryfortheiteration.Inthesecondmethodthesolutionisfurtherimprovedbyintroducingascalefactorateachiteration.Theeffectivenessoftheproposedtechniquesisillustratedbyacomparisonofasetofsixmulti-dampingdesignspectrawithspectralresponsesofatimehistory.
